There is no blue ribbon because the show is never over.

The smiling faces on their ponies line up in the middle of the arena at the end of the class and each let out a sigh of relief to be at the end of this long anticipated exercise. But for you, the day is nowhere near over even if it’s the last class of the day. There are stalls to check and feed schedules to review for tomorrow. There are 14 missed text messages from clients with frantic questions you haven’t answered and a voicemail from the ferrier, he can’t find the thrown shoe.

And that’s a lot, but for you there is no blue ribbon. There is no line in the middle of the arena because for you beating the competition was never what this was about. It’s about creating the dream, and that’s a lifelong commitment.
